Raddish Kids: Luck of the Irish
Guys, for real, I love Raddish Kids. Like really, really can't say enough good things about this monthly kid. Not only is it getting my kids in the kitchen, learning new skills, it is introducing all of us to new foods. WinWin!
This month was an Irish theme and the menu was Potato Leek Soup, Cottage Pie, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Irish Soda Bread. All of these were new to the whole family, so we were pretty excited.

The kids really liked making the bread.
One of the skills we worked on this time was chopping veggies. Both kids are pretty comfortable with knives, and they use our really good ones. I want them to appreciate good kitchen tools!
Gotta work on her finger placement, but her technique is coming along!
The boy won't eat a potato, in any form other than chips, but he can peel them really well!
This bread is basically like a big biscuit, dense and yummy, crusty on the outside. Perfection when dipped in the soup.
Potato leek soup, smooth and creamy, plus cottage pie with delicious mashed potatoes on top of ground beef and mixed veggies. *The difference between Shepard's Pie and Cottage Pie is the meat: lamb vs beef*
I love this picture of them laughing the same way!
This was when all of us were practicing our Irish accents. One of the bonus things about this program is that it isn't just food; there are family activities and even Spotify playlists with every kit!
Sticky Toffee Pudding is basically a cake made from dates and brown sugar, topped with gooey toffee sauce. Perfectly light and fluffy, with just enough sauce to be decadent.
Lessons Learned:
This is SUCH a fun program, but it is not a "fast" meal kind of thing. The whole point is to spend time together, and it generally takes about 2-3 hours to prepare everything. Not a quick weekday meal. But the instructions and shopping lists are so clear and easy to follow, even a beginning cook can follow along, with supervision. Bottom line: we're all hooked.
